Cars without clearance control
Note: For disassembling the shock absorber, see above.
Removal
Limousine: Remove the back of the rear seat.
Touring Model: Remove rear wheel lockers.
Raise the rear of the car.
Support the diagonal arm with a jack, placing a wooden shim underneath it so that the bridge does not fall after the shock absorber strut is removed.
Caution: If the rear wheel is lowered significantly after removing the shock absorber, the constant velocity joints of the axle shafts may be damaged.

Unscrew the shock absorber strut from the diagonal arm.

Remove the shock absorber strut cap.

Remove the rubber cap.

Unscrew the 3 nuts of the centering cup.
Remove the gasket.
Pull the shock absorber strut down.
Caution: Store the shock absorber only in the standing position. When storing the shock absorber with the piston rod retracted in the lying position after installing the shock absorber on the car, knocking may occur. If necessary, store the shock absorber with the shock absorber extended at room temperature for no more than 24 hours.
Installation
Check the shock absorber.
Place a new gasket into the shock absorber strut centering cup.
Insert the shock absorber strut and tighten new self-locking nuts in the passenger compartment with a tightening torque of 25 Nm.
Put on the rubber cap and cover.
Secure the lower part of the shock absorber strut.
Tighten the lower mounting bolt to 125 Nm.
