The windshield wiper drive is located in the drainage casing under the windshield. The wiper system, like the windscreen washer system, is controlled by an electronic module depending on the vehicle speed.
When the vehicle is stationary, the wiper switches off.
As the vehicle speed increases, the intervals for intermittent operation become shorter.
If desired, it is possible to switch to fully automatic control of intermittent operation intervals using the AIC system. This system is equipped with a rain sensor and, depending on how wet the windscreen is, it continuously controls the duration of the cleaning intervals, ranging from continuous operation to a complete stop. Based on the intensity of the infrared radiation of the LED reflected from the windshield, the sensor measures the light transmission of the glass: dry glass reflects infrared radiation completely, and wet glass only partially.
