Replacing the traction relay (BMW 7 Series E38)

1. Remove the starter (see section Removal and installation the starter).



2. Loosen the nut (1) and remove the cable lug (2).

When tightening, do not allow the cable lug (2) to turn, as this may cause a short circuit to the starter housing.

3. Remove the bolts (1).



4. Remove the traction relay (1) and spring (2). Remove the stud (3).

When installing, check the stud (3) for signs of wear and lubricate it.

5. Installation is carried out in reverse order.
