Replacing the glow plug relay (BMW X5 E53)

The glow plug relay must be removed in the following order. Turn off the ignition, disconnect the wire from the negative terminal of the battery and insulate it. Check the serviceability of the glow plug fuse with a 100 A fuse.

Unlock and disconnect the SS (3 and 1, Fig. 6.132) from the relay unit. Unscrew the nuts (2) and remove the glow plug relay. The glow plug relay should be installed in the reverse order, while it is necessary to assemble the engine and activate the glow plug relay using the DDE system ECU. Read information from the DDE system ECU fault memory.



Check the fault messages and eliminate them. Erase faults from the ECU memory and check the operation of the "DDE" system.
