Replacing the DDE system ECU (BMW X5 E53)

The replacement of the electronic control unit (ECU) of the "DDE" system must be carried out in the following order. Read the information from the memory device (MD) of faults and turn off the ignition. Remove the lower part of the housing of the right air conditioner microfilter. Unscrew the screws and remove the cover of the control electronics compartment. Unlock the clamps (arrow, Fig. 6.131) and remove the seal. Unlock the shock absorbers (3) and disconnect them from the DDE system ECU (2). Remove the DDE system ECU.



The installation of the DDE ECU should be carried out in the reverse order. Upon completion of the work, perform coding and programming of the DDE ECU. Read information from the DDE ECU fault memory. Check the recorded fault messages and eliminate them. Erase information from the fault memory.
