Removal and installation of the Solex DIDTA 32/32 carburetor (BMW 3 Series E21)

Removal

Remove the air filter.

Disconnect the throttle linkage from the throttle actuator.

Disconnect the green wire with a black stripe from the bimetallic spring housing, and the green wire with a white stripe from the electromagnetic shut-off valve. Disconnect the vacuum hose from the carburetor.

Disconnect the hoses from the fluid chamber.

Remove the intermediate support of the throttle actuator rod without removing the rod housing from it.

Remove the carburetor by unscrewing the mounting nuts.

Installation

The carburetor is installed in the reverse order of removal, taking into account the following:

• replace carburetor spacer;
• adjust the throttle actuator;
• adjust engine idle speed and carbon monoxide (CO) content in exhaust gases.
