Caution: Noises during winding of the seat belt webbing are caused by the operating principle. If strong noises occur, the belt can be replaced. However, oil or grease must never be used to eliminate noise. The winding machine must not be disassembled, as this could cause the highly compressed spring to jump out. Risk of injury!
Pull the seat belt out completely and check for any separation of the fibres. Damage to the belt may occur, for example, if it is jammed or from burning cigarette ash. In this case, the seat belt must be replaced.
If areas of wear are found, but no fibers are separated, the belt should not be replaced.
If the seat belt is difficult to move, check that the belt is not twisted; you may have to remove the B-pillar trim.
If the automatic rewinding mechanism does not function, replace the seat belt.
Clean the belt tape only with soap and water; never use solvents or chemical cleaners.
Lubrication of body elements
As part of routine maintenance work, tighten and, if necessary, lubricate the door locking devices, engine hood and trunk lid.
Lubricate the door lock pins, locking lugs and contact surfaces of the latches, for example with Optimol-Optitemp TT1 grease.
Lubricate the engine compartment hood guide rollers.
