Removal and installation front seats (BMW 3 Series E36)

Removal

Set the seat to its highest position and move it to its rearmost position.



Mechanical seat adjustment: Release the seat belt tensioner. To do this, turn knob "4" 90° to the left (set vertically to the seat surface) and pull the torso in the braid "5" out of the support and the actuator lever.



Electrical seat adjustment: Discharge the seat belt tensioner. To do this, turn the slotted screw until the green marking in the window changes to red.



Remove the 2 front seat rail bolts.





Raise the seat and remove the seat belt mounting bolts.

Remove the seat.

Installation

Insert the seat.

Tighten the rear bolts without tightening.

Move the seat back and tighten the front mounting bolts with a tightening torque of 55 Nm.

Mechanical seat adjustment: Carefully connect the seat belt tensioner cable. Check again that the cable is positioned correctly (Figure W-48262).

Electric seat adjustment: Turn the slotted screw until a green mark appears in the window.

Caution: If the adjustment is incorrect, the seat belt tensioner will not function.

Move the seat forward and tighten the rear mounting bolts with a tightening torque of 55 Nm.
