Removal and installation front seats (BMW 5 Series E34)

Removal

Adjust the seat to its highest position.

Move the seat forward to gain access to the rear bolts.

Note: If the electric drive fails, the seat can be moved manually by inserting it into the drive hole (in front under the seat, next to the right guide) a 4mm wide screwdriver and turn it.

Unscrew the 2 "arrow" bolts. This requires a Torx key E14.



Disconnect the height adjustment cable from the bottom of the seat. To disconnect, move the lock in the direction of the arrow downwards(the picture shows the mount with the idler pulley when the seat is removed).

Lift the seat from the rear and slide it forward out of the retaining corners.

Disconnect the electrical connectors and remove the seat.

Caution: For safety reasons, disassembling the seat must be carried out at a service station.

Installation

Insert the seat, connect the connectors.

Slide the seat back under the front retaining corners.

Tighten the 2 rear guide rail Torx bolts to a tightening torque of 60 Nm.

Secure the seat height adjustment cable. Press the lock against the direction of the arrow and click it into place.

Check the installation of the seat belts, the movement of the seat, and the electric drive.
