Replacing and tensioning the V-belt of the power steering pump on models 316i, 318i, 318is produced before August 1993. (BMW 3 Series E36)

Loosen, without unscrewing, the "arrow" bolts securing the power steering pump to the bracket.



Unscrew bolt "10" and nut "13" on the tension bar.

Turn tension roller "12" to the right, thereby loosening the tension of the V-belt, and remove the belt.

Apply and tighten the V-belt. Check the V-belt tension in the same way as for the alternator V-belt. Tighten all bolts.
