Removal and installation the power steering pump (BMW 7 Series E38)

Reuse of drained power steering fluid is not permitted.


1. Remove the engine crankcase guard.

2. Remove the power steering pump drive belt (see chapter Engine).

3. Disconnect the pipes from the power steering pump.

When installing, replace the pipeline sealing gaskets.

4. Give the nut.



When installing, secure the stud (1) to the pump, tighten the nut (2) by hand towards the engine support bracket and tighten the nut (3).

5. Unscrew the bolts securing the pump to the oil pan and remove the pump.

6. Installation is carried out in reverse order.
