These engines are fitted with a wider V-belt (V-ribbed belt), which drives the generator, water pump and power steering pump.
Six-cylinder engine: Insert a hexagon socket wrench into the idler pulley bolt. If equipped, first remove the cap from the tension roller bolt. By slowly turning clockwise, compress the hydraulic tensioning element -1-. Remove ribbed V-belt.
Four-cylinder engine: Place a wrench on the idler pulley bracket and push it to the left. Remove belt.
Fit a new ribbed V-belt according to the diagram shown, while pulling the tensioner to the right as far as it will go, as when removing. Pay attention to the position of the grooves on the pulleys.
Unload the tension roller. The tension is determined by the tension element and is not adjustable.
