Removal and installation the steering wheel (BMW 3 Series E46)
Removal
1. Remove the airbag unit, refer to the relevant section.
Before removing the airbag unit, be sure to read the safety instructions.
2. Turn the steering wheel and set the front wheels straight. The steering wheel spoke should be horizontal.
3. Loosen the 16mm socket head screw while holding the steering wheel from turning.
4. Remove the screw and remove the steering wheel.
Installation
5. Check if the front wheels are straight.

6. Position the steering wheel so that the markings on the steering wheel "1" and the steering column "2" match.
7. Secure the steering wheel by tightening the mounting screw to a torque of 63 N·m.
8. Reinstall the airbag unit, refer to the appropriate section.
