The engine electrical equipment includes all components of ignition systems - as parts of the electronic digital engine control system DME / BOSCH-MOTRONIC (gasoline engines), preheat (diesel engines), start and charge. In view of the fact that, according to their functional purpose, these components are directly related to the operation of the engine, they are considered separately from the components of on-board electrical equipment, such as lighting devices, control devices, etc.
When working with electrical equipment, certain safety precautions must be observed:
a) Be careful - electrical appliances are especially easily damaged if they are not handled correctly during inspection, connection and maintenance.
b) Do not leave the ignition on for a long time with the engine off.
c) Do not touch or disconnect the ignition wires while the engine is running or the starter is engaged (gasoline engines).
d) People with a pacemaker should not operate the electronic ignition system (gasoline engines).
e) Never disconnect the wires from the battery while the engine is running.
f) When connecting the wires from the auxiliary power source for emergency start of the engine, observe the polarity.
g) Always disconnect the negative cable from the battery first and connect last to avoid a short circuit if accidentally touched by a tool while loosening/tightening the terminal clamp.
