Warning! Before performing any work on the electrical system, read the warnings given in paragraph "Safety first!" at the beginning of this Guide and in chapter 5.
The electrical system has a voltage of 12 V with a negative wire on the ground. As a power source for lighting devices and all electrical equipment of the car, an acid battery with lead plates is used, recharged by the generator.
This chapter describes the repair and maintenance of various electrical devices and systems not related to the engine. Information regarding the battery, ignition system, generator and engine starter is contained in chapter 5A.
To prevent short circuits and/or fire, disconnect the negative battery terminal before working on any electrical component (see chapter 5A).
