Examination
1. The purpose of the reversing lights is closed by a plunger switch screwed into the gearbox (on the left in a Geirag gearbox, and on the right in a ZF gearbox). If there is a malfunction in the target of the lights, first check the circuit fuse.
2. To check the switch, disconnect the wiring connector and check (ohmmeter or test light) the presence of contact between the switch terminals only when the reverse gear is on. If there is no contact between the terminals, and the wiring is in good condition, this indicates a malfunction of the switch and the need to replace it.
Withdrawal
3. Raise the vehicle and place it on stands (cm. "Lifting and setting the car on supports").
4. Disconnect the wiring connector and unscrew the switch from the gearbox housing (pic. 6.4).
Installation
5. Screw the switch into the transmission and tighten it securely. Connect the wiring connector and check the continuity of the circuit.
6. Lower the vehicle to the ground.
