Because of the complexity of the speed control system, repairs should be left to the dealer service department. However, a home mechanic can perform simple checks of the wiring and vacuum connections for minor damage that can be easily repaired. Such checks include:
- Inspect the speed control system actuator switches for damaged wires and loose contacts.
- Checking the system fuses
- The speed control system operates on vacuum, so it is critical that all vacuum switches, hoses, and connections are working properly. Check the hoses in the engine bay for loose connections, cracks, or obvious vacuum leaks.
