- Red sector: message from the automatic diagnostic system "Kuhlwassertemp" ("Coolant Temperature"): The engine has overheated. In this case, stop immediately and let the engine cool down.
- The scale area between the colored sectors: normal operating temperature. At high outside temperatures or under heavy engine loads, the needle may approach the red sector.
