At the request of the client, BMW models can be equipped with an automatic transmission. The automatic transmission provides, depending on the design, automatic shifting in four or five forward gear ranges.
To ensure quick acceleration, for example when overtaking, the automatic transmission has a so-called kickdown switch, which is activated when the gas pedal is fully depressed. The kickdown effect either delays the transmission in an upshift or shifts from upshift to one of the downshifts.
A condition for being able to assess the operation of an automatic transmission and troubleshooting is the presence of sufficient professional experience, therefore, if you suspect an abnormal operation of an automatic transmission, you should immediately contact a service station. In chapter "Maintenance" only a description of simple tests is given.
