Removal and installation the heating/air conditioning control unit (BMW 5 Series E39)

Removal

Unfasten the control unit "1". To do this, insert two probes "2" on the left and right and press the spring clamps "3" in the places shown.

Note: The feeler gauges must be inserted exactly in the indicated places "3" with some force. If it is not possible to pull out the control unit in this way, it is necessary to remove the central console and pull out the control unit from the inside.

Remove the control unit.



Unfasten and disconnect the multi-pin plugs "1". To do this, press the hook "2" down and move the bracket "3" to the side. Thanks to this, the switch is removed with an upward movement.

Other plug connectors are disconnected by squeezing the locking devices.

Installation

Insert and secure the plugs.





Attach the multi-contact plug "1" and tighten it by repositioning the locking bracket "3". Lock the locking bracket "3" with "2". Check the strength of the fastening of the plug and the locking bracket.

Place the control unit, press evenly and secure.
