Replacing the clutch release bearing (BMW 3 Series E21)

To perform this operation, it is necessary to remove the gearbox.

Remove the clutch release fork retaining spring, fork and release bearing.

Check the height of the clutch release bearing, i.e. dimensions "B" and "C" (for values, see subsection "Detailed technical specifications").



Apply Molykote Longterm 2 type grease to the inner groove of the clutch release bearing, the guide bushings and the bearings of the clutch release fork.

Install the fork assembly with the clutch release bearing in place, attach the fork retaining spring.
