Withdrawal
Remove gearbox, see p. 75.
Remove the clutch release bearing -1- from the gearbox input shaft. Remove clutch release lever -4- from spring clip -5- and remove.
Check the clutch release bearing by hand. To do this, the bearing is easy to compress and rotate. The bearing must rotate easily, otherwise it must be replaced.
Installation
Clean the clutch release lever and lightly treat the sliding surfaces -F- with ESSO UNIREX S2 grease.
Replace spring clip -5- and ball pin -8- if damaged.
Caution: Always replace spring clip and ball head pin with new gearboxes 56S 420G. The gearbox type is indicated on the bottom line of the designation, which consists of three lines. The designation can be in the following places: in the middle of the gearbox at the bottom; on the clutch basket at the bottom; on the sticker located on the left side of the transmission extension.
Wipe off guide sleeve -7-. Do not lubricate the guide bush, otherwise the clutch release bearing on the guide bush may jam.
Install the clutch release lever and bearing on the gearbox input shaft and fix them with a spring clip.
Clean the sliding surfaces of the clutch release bearing. Do not wash the bearing in gasoline. The sliding surfaces -2- of the clutch release bearing must be in contact with the sliding surfaces -3- of the clutch release lever, see illustration W-2829.
Install gearbox.
