Viscous fan
1 - fan;
2 - viscous fan clutch;
3 - spring washer;
4 - hex bolt M6x14;
5 - hex bolt M6x10;
6 - belt pulley;
7 - flange.
Withdrawal
Unscrew the fan with a 32 mm open end wrench from the water pump hub.
Attention: The nut has a left-hand thread. When loosening the nut, press down on the water pump V-belt, which will fix the hub so that it does not turn. When the nut is tightly tightened, you can hit the wrench with a hammer and thus loosen the nut. Specialist workshops use a tool that holds the V-belt pulley by the bolt heads. After loosening the nut, it can be unscrewed by rotating the fan. Be careful not to drop the fan impeller.
Unhook the fan cover at the top left and right. To do this, pry the sliding pin with a flat screwdriver, and then pull it out.
Push the fan cover up in the middle and unhook the tab.
Pull the fan up with the fan cover up.
Remove the upper part, pull the expansion tank up.
If you need to separate the fan and the viscous coupling, then unscrew the mounting bolts and remove the coupling.
Installation
Install the viscous coupling in the fan and tighten the mounting bolts to 10 Nm.
Caution: To avoid damaging the threads and the coupling, these bolts must not be overtightened.
Insert the fan cover with the fan on top so that the bottom mounting rails fit into the eyelets on the heatsink.
Insert clamps and secure with pins. Replace damaged parts if necessary.
Tighten the fan with clutch on the water pump hub to 40 Nm, while holding the hub with a V-belt or by the heads of the hub bolts.
Caution: Do not twist the nut when tightening.
