Since brake fluid is used in the hydraulic clutch operation, you must also read the corresponding notes in chapter "Brake system".
Caution: The venting process described here without a suitable device may leave some air in the system. This can be identified by scratching sounds and improper clutch disengagement. In this case, it is urgent to remove air from the system in the workshop using an appropriate device.
Raise the car.
Remove lower engine cover.
Check the level of brake fluid in the common compensation tank, if necessary, top up the level to the MAX mark.
Remove dust caps from bleeder valve -arrow- on slave cylinder. Attach a transparent hose to the bleeder valve located on the working cylinder.
Carefully open the bleed valve. To avoid damaging the hex of the bolt, use a ring wrench to open.
Immerse the free end of the hose in a vessel with brake fluid so that no air is drawn in during the removal process.
Have an assistant press the clutch pedal all the way down about 10 times and then hold it down.
In this position, open the bleed valve so that the brake fluid flows out of the system into a container. If it can be seen that no more air bubbles enter the vessel through the hose with the spilled liquid, close the air vent valve.
Attention: The fluid level in the compensation tank must not fall too low, if necessary, top up the level with new brake fluid.
Release the clutch pedal and press it again until it stops 10 times, hold it down and open the bleed valve. Repeat this process until no more air bubbles enter the vessel through the hose. At the same time, constantly replenish the level in the compensation tank with new brake fluid.
Close the bleed valve on the clutch slave cylinder, remove the hose from it and put on the dust cap.
Lower the car.
Top up the fluid level in the expansion tank to the MAX mark.
Check the function of the brake system and clutch.
Air removal using a special device
In the workshop, air is bled from the hydraulic clutch, usually using a bleeder. The device creates pressure in the brake fluid.
Unscrew the brake fluid reservoir cap. Take out the float chamber.
Attach an air vent device according to the instructions.
Attach a hose to the valve to bleed air from the clutch slave cylinder. Insert the other end of the hose into the filled (not to the top) brake fluid bottle.
Open the air vent valve and keep it open until air bubbles in the bottle stop.
Remove the bleeder.
Slowly depress the clutch pedal 10 times and slowly release the clutch pedal.
Take off slave cylinder with gearbox, without disconnecting the pipelines.
Open the bleed valve. Press the rod of the working cylinder to the stop until the release of air bubbles stops. The bleed valve must point upwards. Close the bleed valve and slowly release the slave cylinder.
Replace the float chamber. Top up the fluid level in the expansion tank to the MAX mark. Screw on the brake fluid reservoir cap.
Reinstall the fine air filter housing.
Install the lower engine cover.
