Since the hydraulic clutch system uses brake fluid, you should read the same section in chapter «brakes».
Caution: Using the bleed procedure described here without a special tool may leave some air in the hydraulic drive system. This will be heard as a grinding noise when shifting gears due to incomplete clutch disengagement. In this case, it is necessary to remove air from the system in the workshop using a special device.
Remove the bottom mudguard (casing) engine compartment.
Check the brake fluid level in the reservoir and, if necessary, top up to the MAX mark.
Remove the dust cap from the valve (bolt) to remove air (arrow) on the working cylinder. Attach a transparent hose to the valve.
Carefully unscrew the bleeder valve and screw it in so that it can then be easily screwed on and off. To unscrew, use a ring wrench or a head so as not to damage the valve hexagon.
Dip the other end of the hose into a container of brake fluid so that no air can enter the system during the bleeding process.
The assistant should press the clutch pedal 10 times to the stop and then hold it in the depressed position.
In this position, unscrew the bleed valve. Brake fluid will start to leak out. When there are no more air bubbles in the outgoing brake fluid, tighten the valve.
Caution: The brake fluid level in the reservoir must not drop too much. Always top up with fresh fluid.
Release the clutch pedal and press it again 10 times, hold it down and unscrew the bleed valve.
Continue this process until no more air bubbles come out of the hose. At the same time, add only fresh brake fluid to the reservoir.
Tighten the bleed valve, remove the hose and put on the dust cap.
Lower the car. Add brake fluid to the reservoir up to the MAX mark.
Check the operation of the brakes and clutch.
Air removal with a tool
In workshops, air from the clutch hydraulic system is removed, as a rule, using a special device. This device creates pressure on the brake fluid.
Remove the cap from the brake fluid reservoir. Remove the control float.
Connect the bleeder according to its instructions for use.
Put the hose on the valve (bolt) to remove air. Dip the other end into a brake fluid bottle.
Open the bleed valve until no more air bubbles come out, then screw it back on.
Remove the air bleeder.
Slowly press the clutch pedal 10 times to the floor and slowly lower it.
Remove the slave cylinder from the gearbox, leaving the hydraulic line connected.
Open the air bleed valve. Press the push rod all the way into the slave cylinder until air bubbles stop appearing. In this case, the valve must be directed upwards. Close the valve and slowly return the push rod.
Attention: the clutch pedal must not be pressed when the slave cylinder is removed.
Install the control float. Add brake fluid up to the MAX mark. Screw on the brake fluid reservoir cap.
Install the cabin air filter housing.
Install the bottom mudguard (casing) engine compartment.
