Since the hydraulic clutch operates on brake fluid, before carrying out work, you should read the section «Removal of air from the brake system».
Raise the front of the car.
Check the brake fluid level in the expansion tank of the hydraulic clutch drive and, if necessary, add fluid to the MAX mark.
Remove the cap from the clutch slave cylinder bleed valve and the front left brake caliper bleed valve.
Carefully ensure that the bleed valves turn easily.
Attach the transparent hose to the brake caliper bleeder valve on the front left wheel.
Fill the clear hose with brake fluid. To do this, open the brake caliper bleed valve for the front left wheel. Have an assistant press and hold the brake pedal. Close the air release valve and release the brake pedal. Then open the bleeder valve again and depress the brake pedal again. Repeat this process until the transparent hose is completely filled with brake fluid. Close the free end of the hose with your finger so that brake fluid does not leak out of it.
Attention: The brake fluid level must not drop too much, top up with fresh brake fluid if necessary.
Connect the free end of the transparent hose to the clutch slave cylinder bleed valve and open both bleed valves.
Press the brake pedal. Close the air release valve and release the brake pedal. Repeat this process until no more air bubbles appear in the expansion tank. At the same time constantly top up with fresh brake fluid.
Close the bleed valves on the clutch slave cylinder and brake caliper. Remove the transparent hose and put on the dust caps.
Lower the car.
Add brake fluid to the expansion tank up to the MAX mark.
Check the function of the clutch and brake system.
Air removal with a special installation
At service stations, bleeding from the hydraulic clutch actuator is usually carried out using a special installation. The installation creates pressure in the brake system.
Unscrew the cap of the expansion tank with brake fluid. Pull out the float.
Connect the unit according to the operating instructions.
Attach the hose to the clutch slave cylinder bleed valve. Place the end of the hose into a bottle of brake fluid.
Keep the air release valve open until air bubbles stop escaping. While doing this, press the clutch pedal several times.
If air remains in the hydraulic system after repeated removal, the slave cylinder must be removed from the gearbox (see section «Removal and installation of the clutch slave cylinder»).
With the hydraulic tube connected, push the piston pusher into the cylinder until it stops. As a result, residual air escapes through the expansion tank and maximum clutch travel is achieved.
Caution: Do not depress the clutch pedal when the slave cylinder is removed.
Insert the float into the expansion tank. Add brake fluid to the expansion tank up to the MAX mark. Screw on the cap of the expansion tank.
