Examination
1. Disconnect the pump connector.
2. Connect the voltage measuring device to the plug contact. Turn on the ignition and the windshield washer switch. If there is voltage, replace the pump. You can also use a test lamp for checking.

Checking the windshield washer pump (BMW 3 Series E46)
The pump must be checked if it does not operate when the wiper/washer switch and ignition are on.
1. Disconnect the pump connector.
2. Connect the voltage measuring device to the plug contact. Turn on the ignition and the windshield washer switch. If there is voltage, replace the pump. You can also use a test lamp for checking.
