Removal



1. The brake light switch is located on the brake pedal bracket, behind the dashboard.

2. Remove the screws securing the lower trim panel on the driver's side. Detach the panel and remove it from the vehicle.

3. Disconnect the electrical wiring connector from the switch behind the front panel.

4. Remove the switch. If necessary, squeeze the tabs and remove the switch socket from the pedal bracket (fig. 18.4, a, b).

Installation



5. Fully depress the brake pedal and, while holding it in this position, insert the switch into place. While holding the switch in place, slowly release the brake pedal until it reaches the stop. This will automatically adjust the position of the switch.

Note: If the pedal is released too quickly, the switch will not be adjusted correctly.




6. Reconnect the wiring harness and check the brake light bulbs. The bulbs should light when the brake pedal is moved approximately 5 mm. If the switch does not work properly, it must be replaced. The switch is not adjustable.

7. Once the work is completed, reinstall the lower trim panel.
