Withdrawal
1. On models with this engine, the Valvetronic system creates too little vacuum in the intake manifold than that required for the operation of the vacuum brake booster. The vacuum pump is mounted on the rear side of the cylinder head and is driven by the exhaust camshaft.
2. Open the hood and raise it as high as possible (see chapter 11).
3. Turn out two screws, remove a plastic cover from the top party of the engine and slide it forward.
4. At the rear of the engine compartment, turn the tabs 90°counterclockwise and remove the cabin filter cover. Take out the filter. See chapter 1 for more details.
5. Release the latches on the wiring box and pull out the contents.
6. Remove the four screws and pull the cabin filter housing forward (see chapter 1).
7. In the left rear corner of the engine compartment, remove the sealing strip, disconnect the two clips and slide the trim panel forward (pic. 21.7).
8. Turn out two screws and remove the case of an air duct of a heater of salon (pic. 21.8).
9. Disconnect the vacuum hose from the pump, remove the three screws and remove the pump (pic. 21.9). Discard the O-ring as you will need a new one during installation.
Installation
10. Installation is made in sequence, return to removal. Make sure that the pump shaft shank fits into the grooves of the camshaft (pic. 21.10). Tighten the pump mounting screws securely.
