Note: Follow the procedure for disconnecting and connecting the battery.
2. Bring the hood into the installation position.
3. Remove the cover with the BMW emblem.
4. Remove the air filter housing.
5. Remove the manifold.
6. Remove the air intake box.
7. Remove the heater partition.
8. Remove the left bulkhead of the engine auxiliary mechanisms compartment.
9. Remove the engine wiring harness from the control electronics compartment.
10. Drain the coolant.
11. Remove the expansion tank.
12. Remove the water cooling radiator.
13. Remove the air conditioning compressor drive belt.
14. Remove the generator drive belt.
15. Disconnect the fuel lines (feeder and outlet).
16. Remove the front/middle protection panel.
17. Remove the stiffening plate.
18. Remove both wheel drive shafts.
19. Remove the water valve with the additional heater.
20. Disconnect the double valve from the steering gear.
21. Unscrew the air conditioning compressor mount and move it to the side.
22. Remove the exhaust system.
Attention:
- Collect leaking fuel in a suitable container and send for disposal.
- Observe the applicable national disposal regulations.
23. Disconnect all connectors on the windshield washer reservoir (1).
24. Squeeze the windshield washer reservoir (1) in the direction indicated by the arrow, moving it upwards.
25. Secure the windshield washer reservoir (1) with a bandage (2).
26. Release the lambda probe connector (3) from the clamp in the direction indicated by the arrow.
27. Release the wire holder (2).
28. Unscrew the rear bolt (1) on the cylinder head.
29. Remove the bracket (4).
30. Secure the power steering pump (1) with the reservoir using a bandage (2) on the front shield.
31. Unscrew the nuts (1).
32. Fasten the valve (2) with the vacuum receiver to the engine.
33. Disconnect and move aside the vacuum line.
34. Remove tool 110250.
Caution: Engine tips forward, risk of damage.
35. Remove the rod (1).
36. Secure the engine wiring harness (2) to the engine so that it does not fall.
37. Install tool 110020 on the engine.
Attention:
- Pay attention to the chain of the device 110020.
- The engine may only be lifted using the eyes (1) specially designed for this purpose.
38. Loosen the nut (1) on the right engine support bracket.
39. Loosen the nuts (1) on the left and right engine support brackets.
40. Loosen the ground connection jumper fastening on the right engine mount bracket.
Attention. Bottlenecks:
- steering gear;
- capacitor;
- front shield.
41. Carefully remove the engine.
42. Assemble the engine.
43. Fill the cooling system and check for leaks.
44. Check the engine oil level.
