Removal and installation the engine (BMW 3 Series E21)
Removal
Remove the gearbox.
Remove the engine cooling system radiator.
Disconnect the wire from the "-" terminal of the battery.
On vehicles with power steering, remove the power steering pump mounting bolts and move it to the side without disconnecting the hoses.
Remove the air filter.
Disconnect the hoses from the carburetor.
Disconnect the cooling system hoses and electrical wires from the engine, disconnect the vacuum hose from the brake booster.
Disconnect the throttle control rod from the lever and remove it from the bracket.
On cars with carburetor engines
Disconnect the wire from the starter and remove it from the eye.
On "320i" models
Remove the air flow meter pressure disc protective cover.
Disconnect the vacuum hoses from the ignition distributor.
Disconnect the wire from the "+" terminal of the battery and disconnect the small cross-section wire.
Unscrew the fuel supply line fittings from the injectors and disconnect the fuel lines from the fuel dispenser.
Disconnect the mixture regulator plug.
Loosen the bolts securing the mixture regulator bracket to the wheel mudguard and remove the mixture regulator from the engine compartment.
On models "318i"
Disconnect the ignition switch plug and remove the wire from the mounting brackets.
On all cars
Attach the 110000 attachment chains to the front and rear engine lift arms.
Disconnect the ground wire from the engine bracket
Remove the left engine mount bracket.
Depending on the modification, remove the engine suspension shock absorber.
Remove the right engine mount bracket.
Remove the engine from the engine compartment.
Installation
The engine is installed in the reverse order of removal.
