Vacuum Booster Valve — Removal, Checking and Installation (BMW 3 Series E46)

            0

Table of contents: Removal ↓ Examination ↓ Installation ↓

Removal

1. Disconnect the hose from the valve (the valve is installed on the amplifier).

2. Carefully remove the valve from the booster. Do not displace the valve sealing sleeve.

Examination

3. Check the valve for damage and replace if necessary.

4. The valve can be checked by blowing in both directions. Air should only pass through the valve in one direction - when blowing through the valve from the servo amplifier side. Otherwise, the valve must be replaced.

5. Inspect the valve sealing sleeve for damage. Replace the sleeve if necessary.

Installation

6. Make sure the valve seal is in place.

7. Install the valve on the booster. Be careful not to move or damage the valve sealing sleeve.

8. Connect the vacuum hose to the valve.

9. Finally, start the engine and check the valve connection to the booster for air leaks.
