Replacing the check valve and vacuum booster hose (BMW X5 E53)

Caution: Before starting work, press the brake pedal several times to relieve the vacuum in the brake booster, which will make it easier to disconnect the vacuum hose.


The check valve and vacuum booster hose must be replaced in the following order: Remove the heater partition and decorative casing.

Open the clamp (6, see Fig. 11.51) hose fastenings, remove the check valve from the brake booster and disconnect it from the vacuum hose. Remove the vacuum hose (7) by disconnecting it from the receiver or vacuum pump line. Replace the sealing gasket (4).

On a car with an "N62" engine, you should additionally remove the air flow meter, release the vacuum line from the holder (1, Fig. 11.62), open the clamp (2) and disconnect the fitting hose. Release the vacuum line from the clamps. Replace the clamps when installing the vacuum hose.
