Note. On models with ABS and traction control (ASC+T) or dynamic stabilization system (DSC) To remove the booster, the ABS/ASC+T and/or DSC control unit must be removed. Since the removal of these blocks requires special equipment, this work must be carried out at a specialized service station.
Examination
1. To check the operation of the amplifier, press the foot brake pedal several times in order to use up the remaining vacuum in the amplifier. Then start the engine while keeping the pedal depressed. When starting the engine, you will feel "quickdraw" pedals with increasing vacuum. After the engine has been running for a while (at least a couple of minutes), mute it. Now pressing the pedal. You should feel a normal amount of effort, and with subsequent presses, the pedal should become "tougher", and its stroke should decrease with each press.
2. If the amplifier does not work as described above, then first of all you need to check the amplifier valve (see paragraph 13).
3. If after checking the valve the amplifier continues to work unsatisfactorily, then it is faulty. Replace the amplifier - it cannot be repaired.
Withdrawal
Note. When installing, you will need new nuts securing the amplifier.
4. Remove the master cylinder (see paragraph 10).
5. Disconnect the vacuum hose from the booster valve.
6. Turn out screws and remove the lower panel of facing from outside the driver.
7. Unhook the spring, then remove the retainer and the pin connecting the brake pedal to the booster pusher (see paragraph 11, fig. 11.4).
8. Turn away nuts of fastening of the amplifier. Then remove the amplifier from the engine compartment and remove from the car (pic. 12.8).
Installation
9. Installation is made in sequence, return to removal. Pay attention to the following when installing.
- A) Check the condition of the sealing sleeve of the booster valve and. if necessary, replace it.
- b) Before installing a new amplifier, remove the sound insulation from the old amplifier and attach it to the new amplifier.
- V) Make sure the booster pushrod is correctly positioned relative to the brake pedal. Then fix the amplifier with nuts and tighten them to the required torque.
- G) Lubricate the booster pusher axle with grease, insert the axle into place and fix it with a spring clip.
- d) Install master cylinder (paragraph 10).
- e) Finally, start the engine and check for air leaks from the vacuum booster connections. Before driving, check the operation of the brake system.
