Note 1. Before starting work, read the note at the beginning of paragraph 4 about the danger of asbestos dust.
Note 2: If one of the discs needs to be replaced, replace BOTH discs at the same time to ensure even and stable braking. Replace the brake pads as well.
Examination
1. Chock the front wheels, then raise the rear of the car and place it on jack stands (cm. "Lifting and placing the car on supports"). Remove the corresponding front wheel. Release the parking brake.
2. Check the disc as described in paragraph 6.
Withdrawal
3. Turn out two bolts of fastening of an arm of a support, then remove all knot from a disk. Using wire, secure the caliper to the suspension spring, avoiding tension on the brake hose (pic. 7.3). If necessary, disconnect the hose from the body mounting bracket.
4. Remove the drive screw (pic. 7.4).
5. If possible, remove the brake disc from the hub by hand. If the disc is not removed. tap it with a plastic mallet from the back. If the parking brake pads interfere with disc removal. first make sure the parking brake is fully released, then do the following.
6. Fully loosen the parking brake cable (see paragraph 14).
7. Insert a screwdriver into one of the wheel bolt holes and turn the knurled knob to release the pads (see fig. 14.5 a, b). After that, the disk can be removed.
Installation
8. When installing a new disc, first wash off the preservative from the disc with a suitable solvent.
9. Align the marks made before removal, then install the drive, screw in and tighten the drive screw to the required torque.
10. Put a support on a disk. Make sure the pads are in the correct position relative to the disc. Tighten the caliper mounting bolts to the required torque.
11. Adjust parking brake pads and cable (see paragraph 14).
12. Install the wheels, lower the vehicle to the ground and tighten the wheel bolts to the required torque. At the end of work, press the brake pedal several times so that the pads approach the disc.
