BMW «520i» power supply system (BMW 5 Series E12)
Fuel pump
Every 60,000 km, clean the pump mesh filter:
- unscrew the screw plug;
- remove the filter, wash it in clean gasoline;
- install the filter with new sealing gaskets.
Fuel filters
Clean the fuel system filters every 60,000 km.
Fuel tank intake mesh filter
Every 60,000 km, clean the mesh filter of the fuel intake from the tank:
- unscrew the screw securing the front cover located on the right side of the luggage compartment, remove the cover;
- remove the fuel hose clamps, remove the hoses;
- unscrew the eight screws securing the intake and remove it;
- wash the filter;
- install the intake manifold with a new sealing gasket. Fuel pump filter.
Loosen the suction hose clamp. Disconnect the hose and plug its opening with a plug.
Remove the mesh filter (cone-shaped) from the hose connection hole. Rinse the filter and reinstall it.
Replacing the main fuel filter
Loosen the clamps securing the fuel hoses and filter housing.
Disconnect the hoses and replace the filter assembly.
Install the new filter according to the arrow on its body, indicating the direction of fuel flow.
Fuel distributor filter
Unscrew the supply pipe fitting. Wash the mesh filter installed in the fitting.
