Preface
This manual is a guide to maintenance and repair of BMW vehicles with 4- and 6-cylinder petrol engines of the following models: "518", "520", "520i", "525", "525i", "528", "528i" and "535i" produced between 1972 and 1987.
The manual is intended for employees of service centers and stations and repair shops, as well as for technically trained motorists. Therefore, in some cases, the structure of units, mechanisms and systems is presented without excessive detail, and the order of maintenance and repair is easily understood when reading the text or studying the drawings.
The manual provides detailed technical specifications of all units, mechanisms and systems of the vehicle and gives recommendations for performing maintenance and repair work.
Appendix I contains recommendations for vehicle operation, and Appendix II provides a table of the conformity of domestically produced fuels and lubricants with foreign analogues.
