Preface to the BMW X5 E53 repair manual (BMW X5 E53)

            0

This Manual is a guide to the operation, maintenance and repair of BMW X5 series cars with an E53 body, manufactured since January 1999 in the USA and since spring 2000 in Europe, with in-line 6-cylinder and V-shaped 8-cylinder engines, with a crossover body type in a version with permanent all-wheel drive (4×4). The car meets Euro-4 standards for maximum toxicity of exhaust gases. The engines are located longitudinally. The power unit is equipped with two types of five-speed gearboxes, with manual and automatic control systems. A 6-speed gearbox with manual control is installed in the custom configuration. Graphic materials of the concern were used in preparing the publication "Bayerische Motoren-Werke AG" (BMW, Germany) and materials of the State Enterprise Research Institute of Automotive Industry (Russia).

The manual is intended for employees of car service centers and stations (STOA) and repair shops, as well as for trained motorists. Therefore, in some cases, the structure of units, mechanisms and systems is presented without excessive detail. And the order of technical maintenance and repair becomes easily understandable when reading the text and studying the drawings. For the most difficult to repair units and assemblies, such as the fuel injection system and automatic transmission, only the technological process of replacing their components or the unit as a whole is given.

The BMW X5 E53 Manual provides recommendations on the operation, maintenance and repair of the vehicle in its basic configuration. Although every effort has been made to provide accurate data in the Manual, the authors, publishers and suppliers of the Manual are not responsible for failures, defects, losses, injuries or deaths caused by the use of erroneous or incorrectly presented information, omissions or errors that may have occurred during the preparation of this Manual. The Manual was prepared for printing by an employee of the State Enterprise NIIEUavtoprom - Gordienko V. N.
