If a malfunction occurs in one of the systems, then its indicator does not go out after starting the engine or lights up again while the car is moving.
[1] Start the engine of the donor vehicle and bring it to a steady idle.
Check the reliability of the clamps and the integrity of the insulation of the starter cable and connect the starter cable (pic. 1.3) in the following sequence:
- clamp «+» cable to discharged battery, terminal «+» (pic. 1.4) located under the hood;
- clamp «+» cable to auxiliary battery;
- clamp «-» cable to auxiliary battery;
- clamp «-» cable to «mass» car body, for this use
The vehicle must be towed on paved roads in the following order.
- Put the ignition key in position "1», to unlock the steering and energize the hazard warning lights.
- Install an elastic towing cable made of synthetic material or a compound cable with an intermediate link made of a similar material. The towing eyes of both vehicles must be on the same side.
Red indicators
Red indicators signal that it is necessary to stop immediately, eliminate the malfunction or call a tow truck and urgently contact the service station.
Battery charging current
Control indicator (red) lights up when the ignition is turned on. Immediately after the engine starts, it goes out. If the indicator does not go out and periodically lights up while driving, this indicates a malfunction in the charging current circuit of the generator, drive belt or voltage regulator. At the same time, the battery (AB) not charging.
If there is a defect in the drive belt, then movement is impossible due to the discharge of the battery, overheating of the engine, and the vehicle must be evacuated.
Engine oil pressure
When the ignition is turned on, the control indicator (red) lights up and goes out after starting the engine. Lighting up the indicator while driving, with the simultaneous appearance of the message on the CAD display «Stop! Oldruck Motor» («Stop! Engine oil pressure»). This indicates a drop in oil pressure or a malfunction in the lubrication system. It is necessary to stop driving, turn off the engine and restore the oil level.
Attention! If the problem is not eliminated by restoring the oil level, the indicator remains on, movement is prohibited. Possible engine damage due to oil starvation. The vehicle needs to be towed.
Parking brake, brake hydraulics
Indicator (red) lights up when the lever is raised (inclusion) parking brake and briefly when the ignition is switched on. When you move the parking brake lever down to the stop, the light goes out. The parking brake control indicator is located on the instrument panel in the right corner.
If the indicator illuminates when the parking brake is released, stop driving immediately and check the brake fluid level in the reservoir. This dramatically increases the free travel of the brake pedal.
If it is impossible to eliminate the malfunction on the spot, it is allowed to drive to the service station, taking into account the driving style. The indicator also comes on when there is a Check Control message «Check brake linings» («Check brake pads»).
Tire pressure monitoring system (RDC)
The indicator is red, and the tire damage warning signal sounds at the same time. Stop the vehicle immediately and smoothly, while avoiding sudden steering and brake impacts.
Combination of indicators
The red indicator of the brake system came on in combination with the indicators of the yellow color of the systems «ABS» And «DSC/ xDrive». Additionally, an audible signal sounds.
Systems «ABS», «DSC» and xDrive» Broke down. Torque is only transmitted to the rear wheels.
Driving is possible only if you are careful in your choice of driving style, especially when cornering and overtaking. At the same time, it is necessary to strictly monitor the traffic situation.
If in the indicator combination described, the brake system indicator lights up yellow, then the electronic brake force distribution system (EBV) still remains functional.
i Please buckle up
The indicator is red and comes on shortly after starting off and stays on until the driver and front passenger buckle up. At the same time, a warning signal sounds. In this case, information can be displayed on the display of the automatic diagnostic system in the form of a message - «Gurt anlelegen» («Put on a belt»).
These signals are also issued when the belt is unfastened while driving. The indicator goes out after the seat belt is fastened.
Airbags
When the ignition is switched on, the control indicator (red) lights up and goes out. If the indicator does not light up or does not go out after the engine is started when the ignition is turned on, and flashes intermittently or is constantly on while driving, this indicates a malfunction in the airbag system (NPB). You must immediately contact the service station for verification.
Yellow indicators
The yellow indicators below signal that it is necessary to contact the workshop.
Dynamic brake control (DBC)
The indicator lights up when the ignition key is turned and goes out after the engine is started. The DBC system indicator lights up during hard braking and indicates that the system is involved in the braking process. When the brake pedal is pressed hard, this system increases the braking effect even with a slight effort on the pedals.
Engine oil level
When the ignition is turned on, the control indicator (red) lights up and goes out after starting the engine. Indicator light (yellow) while driving
- Modern appearance on the CAD message display «Olstand Motor prufen» («Check engine oil level) indicate a drop in the oil level to a minimum or a malfunction in the lubrication system. Stop the engine and restore the oil level. The level must be restored no later than after 50 km.
If the indicator lights up after stopping the engine, check the engine oil level and, if necessary, restore it.
Tire damage indicator
The indicator lights up when the pressure drops in the tires or in one of them.
Torque is possibly transmitted only to the rear wheels. The flashing of the indicator indicates that the system is activated and is in the mode of controlling the engine torque and pressure in the brake drive.
Dynamic Stability Control System (DSC/xDrive)
If the indicator lights up continuously and an audible signal sounds, then a malfunction has been detected in the DSC / xDrive system. There is no stabilizing effect of the DSC/xDrive system.
When the indicator is on, you can continue driving to the service station, being careful and predicting the situation on the road.
Green and blue indicators
Green and blue indicators (high beam) colors signal that it is necessary to take into account the information they transmit.
direction indicators
Control indicators (arrows) flash when the turn signal is on. If one of the turn signal lamps is off, the control indicator will flash faster. When the alarm is activated, all direction indicators flash simultaneously. When using the vehicle as a towing trailer, there is an additional indicator. If any of the direction indicators do not work on the vehicle and trailer, then this indicator does not light up.
Fog lights
The indicator lights up only - after turning on the fog lights using the switch located on the left of the front panel of the body, to the left of the steering column.
high beam headlights
Control indicator (blue), lights up when the headlights are switched on and flashes when the headlights are signaled. Switching on is carried out by the upper left lever switch on the steering column.
