1. Check the seat belts, buckles, latch tongues and guide loops for obvious damage or signs of wear.
2. Check whether the "Fasten seat belt" indicator light comes on when the ignition key is turned to the "RUN" or "START" position.
3. Seat belts are designed to lock in the event of a sudden stop or impact, while allowing you to move freely during normal driving. Check that the belt tensioners tend to tighten the belt around your chest when driving, and to completely twist the belt when the buckle is not fastened.
4. If any problems with the seat belt system are detected during the inspection, replace the defective components.
5. Belts that have withstood the impact load during an accident should also be replaced.
