Removal and installation steering column covers (BMW 5 Series E28)
If your car radio is equipped with an anti-theft system, make sure you have entered the correct code before disconnecting the battery cable. Refer to Section Anti-theft audio system and instrument cluster language before disconnecting the wire.
If after connecting the wire, the inscriptions on your instrument panel appear in a language other than the one you need, refer to SectionAnti-theft audio system and instrument cluster language, which describes the procedure for installing the required language.
Removal
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the steering wheel (Chapter Steering).

3. Loosen the screws of the top speaker cover using a Phillips screwdriver.

4. Remove the two screws under the bottom of the column.

5. First remove the lower casing from the column,..

...then the top one.
Installation
Install in reverse order.
