General information
When working with electrical systems, always observe the following precautions:
- Be extremely careful when servicing the engine's electrical components. They are easily damaged if not properly inspected, connected or handled.
- Never leave the ignition on for a long time when starting the engine.
- Do not disconnect the battery cables while the engine is running.
- When starting the engine with an additional battery, follow the rules. Read the safety precautions at the end of this manual.
- Always disconnect the negative battery cable first and reconnect it last to avoid the risk of accidental short circuits.
- Do not charge the battery with the wires attached.
- It is also advisable to familiarise yourself with the safety information relating to the engine's electrical systems before commencing the work described in this Chapter.
If your car radio has an anti-theft system, make sure you know the correct activation code before disconnecting the battery. Before disconnecting the wire, refer to Section Anti-theft audio system and instrument cluster language.
If a message in another language appears on the instrument panel display after connecting the battery, refer to Section 1 for the language setting procedure Anti-theft audio system and instrument cluster language.
