            0

Screw on the drain plug with a new gasket and tighten the plug well, but without excessive force.

Tightening torque of the plug
  • under key 17: 30 nm,
  • under the key 19: 60 nm.

Fill with new oil through the oil filler neck on the cylinder head cover.

Start the engine and let it run at high speed (about 2500 rpm) until the lubrication system indicator light on the instrument panel goes out (about 5 seconds).

After a 5-minute pause, check the oil level with an oil dipstick.

Diesel engine: Install the oil pan.

If you need to reset the service interval indicator. This usually requires a special tool that can be purchased from BMW (expensive). In addition, the indicator can be reset for free at a BMW service station.

To control the engine operation, the oil must be changed to the same type and preferably the same brand. Therefore, it is advisable to attach a plate to the engine indicating the brand and viscosity of the oil poured in.

It is not recommended to pour in different types of oil indiscriminately. Oils of the same type but different brands cannot be mixed. It is allowed to mix, if necessary, during the transition period between different seasons, oils of the same type and brand but different viscosity.
