- 10 - viscosity of oil in cold state. The lower this number, the more fluid is the cold oil.
- W - this symbol indicates that the oil is suitable for use in winter.
- 40 - viscosity of oil when hot. The higher this number, the thicker the hot oil.
The figure shows the viscosity of motor oils recommended for BMW cars depending on the ambient temperature. The specified oils can be used at almost any ambient temperature.
Note: It is permissible to mix oils of different viscosity grades with each other if it is necessary to top up the oil level.
Additives, no matter what kind, should not be added to either fuel or lubricating oil.
