Removal and installation the top hatch cover (BMW 7 Series E38)
Do not use force when moving the sliding roof panel.
Removal

1. Open the cover by 250 mm, adjust the bolts (2) so that the hole becomes free, and close the cover.
2. Briefly press the top hatch opening button and stop it again. The rear part of the cover should drop by 2÷4 mm.
3. Slowly move the ceiling sliding panel all the way back and close the cover.
After this, it is not allowed to activate the cover in the "Open" direction (risk of damage to the mechanism).

4. Loosen the nuts and remove the top hatch cover by moving it upwards and backwards.
When installing, replace the nuts or treat the old nuts with Loctite 270.
Installation

1. Properly hook the left and right mounting levers (1) onto the slide (2) from the front.
2. Using your palm, press the front part of the cover from the left and right sides from the bottom up. The cover should not lift up. The installation levers on the edges of the cover should engage properly.

3. Push the sliding/tilting sunroof cover forward and tighten the nuts (2) by hand.
4. Lower the rear part of the top hatch cover by 2÷4 mm.
5. Slowly move the sliding ceiling panel all the way forward.
6. Open the top hatch cover by approximately 250 mm, carefully push it upwards, screw in the fixing bolts (2 on illustrations) on the left and right sides and tighten them.
