Removal and installation luggage compartment trim elements and its lid (BMW 7 Series E38)

Shields in the luggage compartment trim

1. Open the luggage compartment and remove the luggage compartment floor trim (1).

When installing, pay attention to the correct position of the tension belts (2).

2. On left side of models with navigation system remove the computer of this system, lift the latches (1) and remove the frame (2).



3. On models with CD changer open its cover (1), unlock the bayonet bolt (2) and fold back the shield (3).





4. On models with CD changer detach the rear trim panel (1) and lift it over the CD changer (2). Disassemble the plastic screw connection (3) and separate the trim parts.

When installing, tighten the plastic screw connection.

5. On the right side, release the latches and fold back the shield. Hook and pull out the latches (1) and remove the shield.

Wheel arch trim from the luggage compartment side

1. Remove the corresponding shield in the luggage compartment.



2. On models with a ski bag, release the retainer (1), remove the wheel arch trim panel (2) from the luggage compartment side, lift the panel over the mounting eye (3) and detach it from the ski bag frame (4).

When installing, first attach the panel to the ski bag frame (4).

3. When replacing, disassemble the plastic screw connection (1) and separate the trim parts (2) and (3).

When installing, tighten the plastic screw connection (1).

Trunk lid trim

1. Open the luggage compartment, pry up and remove the plugs (1) and unscrew the bolts located underneath.



2. Open the tool box, release the towing limiter strap and remove the tool box by moving it upward.



3. On models with automatic trunk lid drive, pry up and remove the plug (1), unscrew the bolt and remove the handle.

4. Press the microswitch out through the hole formed after removing the handle and disconnect its connector. Hook and remove the protective frame of the microswitch.



5. Remove the luggage compartment light. Remove the plug (1), unscrew the bolt and remove the handle. Pry up and remove the clips (2) and remove the protective cover of the luggage compartment lock.

6. Release the clamps around the entire perimeter and remove the trunk lid trim.

7. When installing, replace damaged fasteners.
