Removal and installation seat belts (BMW 7 Series E38)

Front

1. Remove the front seat (see section Removal and installation front seats).

2. Remove the front seat shield and center pillar trim (see section Removal and installation of body pillar and ceiling trim panels).



3. Disconnect the seat belt tensioner connector (1) and secure the wires with a clamp (2) so that the connector is not stressed.

4. Remove the screw (1) and remove the seat belt tensioner. Note the seat belt tensioner position marking on the seat.





5. Remove the clamp (1) and bracket (2). Loosen the screw (3) and remove the seat belt return mechanism.

When installing, pay attention to the marking of the position of the seat belt return mechanism on the central pillar. Make sure that the drive cable is correctly installed in the clamp (1).

6. Loosen the nut (1) and remove the seat belt height adjustment mechanism diverter ring. If necessary, remove the adjustment mechanism by unhooking the drive cable.

7. Installation is carried out in reverse order.

Rear

1. Remove the rear seat back (see section Removal and installation the rear seat).

2. Remove the shelf behind the rear seat (see section Removal and installation the shelf behind the rear seat and the rear window curtain).



3. Remove the cover.



4. Press the clamps and remove the roller.





5. Remove the left and right seat belt return mechanisms.

6. Remove the bolt (1) securing the right/left seat belt to the center return mechanism.









7. Remove the right and left seat belt buckles. To do this, bend up the cut-out part of the soundproofing covering (2) and unscrew the bolt (1).

8. Installation is carried out in reverse order.
