Doors and trunk lid (BMW 7 Series E38)

A description of unlocking and locking the doors, as well as a description of opening the trunk lid using the remote control, is given in Section Access, protection.

Unlocking and locking the trunk lid with the key

Only the master key fits into the trunk lid lock.

1. For unlocking the luggage compartment lid separately from the other doors, and also if there is a malfunction in its electric drive, turn the main key in the lock cylinder counterclockwise until it stops. The lid will rise slightly. After closing the lid, it will be locked again.

2. For locking trunk lids separate from other doors (to disconnect the trunk lid from the single lock) turn the main key in the lock cylinder clockwise past the point of resistance and remove the key when it is in a horizontal position.

Opening and closing the trunk lid

1. If the trunk lid lock has not been locked separately, it can be open using the button.



2. For ease of lowering the luggage compartment lid, a special recess is provided in its trim. To close on models equipped with a lid closer, press the lid lightly – the lid will finally close automatically.

Additional rear door lock lock

1. In rear doors provided additional locking of locks, designed to prevent children from opening them in the back seat. To prevent the rear door from being opened from the inside, turn the key in the rear door lock outward and close the door. Now it can only be opened from the outside.

2. To be able to open the door again from the inside, open it from the outside and turn the key in the lock to its original position.
