Access to the fuel tank filler neck (BMW 7 Series E38)

            0

Turn off the engine and do not smoke when removing the fuel filler cap. If the engine is running while refueling, fuel will not be able to get into the tank and the indicator may come on "Service Engine Soon" (See Section Instrument cluster).

The fuel filler flap is located on the right side of the vehicle at the rear. The procedure for unlocking the flap is given in Section Access, protection.

1. To open the hatch cover, press on its front edge.

2. Unscrew the screw cap of the fuel tank filler neck and secure it in the holder on the back of the filler neck cover.

The cap should be unscrewed slowly and gradually to relieve the fuel pressure in the tank.

3. After refueling, tighten the filler cap until it clicks into place.

If the lid is not closed tightly, the indicator may turn on "Service Engine Soon" (See Section Instrument cluster).

4. To close the hatch, simply close its cover.
