Table of contents: Removal ↓ Examination ↓ Installation ↓
The fuel tank ventilation valve regulates the supply of fuel vapors from the activated carbon container, which are burned when the engine is running. The activated carbon container is located in the front left part of the engine compartment. It collects gasoline vapors when the engine is turned off. As soon as the engine starts, the fuel vapors are pumped out of the activated carbon container and burned in the engine.

Removal

Disconnect the valve connector, first lifting the safety clip.

Unscrew the valve from the bracket.

Disconnect the ventilation hoses and remove the valve.

Examination

Connect to the outlet fitting (diameter 8 mm) valves vacuum hose with vacuum pump.

Apply 12 volts to the valve using auxiliary wires, plus (+) to the red-white contact and minus (-) to the brown contact.

Create a vacuum of 600 + 100 mbar using a vacuum pump.

The pressure drop should not exceed 50 mbar within approximately 20 seconds. Otherwise, replace the ventilation valve.

Installation

Connect the hoses. Check the reliability and tightness of the connections.

Screw on the valve.

Connect the connector and secure with a bracket.
